More Landscaping, decking and stairs

Landscaping

The backyard was a bit of a mess when we moved in so we decided to get stuck straight into it and start levelling the yard and build a retaining wall. No landscaper this time, just a wheel barrow a few tools and a couple of volunteers.

All moved in now and we have a driveway

Within a few days of getting the keys we had the carpets installed and moved in not long after.
The big thing this week was getting the driveway installed.

We have the keys!!!

It has been an exciting 24 hours.
Last night we got a call from a neighbour asking if we were inside the house (we wern't) as they could see a flashlight shining around inside our house. We promptly called the cops and drove over. By the time we got there the cops had already been and had called us back. They checked through the house as it was open but thankfully didn't find anything missing or damaged. They locked it up on the way out.
However the good news is today we had handover and got the keys. We still have a few minor items to be fixed but overall it is great. A few pics below.

We had our blinds booked in for Thursday last week as we were expecting the keys by then. Our Site supervisor was happy to let us in to get them installed anyway. It appears only a little painting to go now so hopefully keys soon???

Final inspection. Water leak

We had our final inspection today at 9AM. We found the gas hadn't been connected properly so we couldn't test the HWS or cooktops and found lots of little things that needed to be finished off or touched up with paint. The biggest problem was the water leak we found above the study. The ceiling was all mouldy and when poked with a stick water came pouring out onto the floor. The cause of the leak needs to be looked into and most of the ceiling needs to be replaced. Our site supervisor seems to think they will be able to fix the problems within a week so we can have the keys next Friday but I doubt it. We may have to wait another week.

Finally. We have a final inspection date

Friday the 12th Movember is our Final inspection date. We have hired a private building inspector to come through with us just in case we miss anything.
All going well we should have our keys the week after.
I'll post some pictures after the inspection next week.
