Bricking has started

We finally saw some more action at the site this week. It looks like most of the rear foundations have been bricked and have been told the floor joists will be finished next week.
Also received a nasty surprise in the mail of extra expense due to rock excavation while laying the plumbing.

View from the rear.
View of front right.

View of front left. Floor level looks a little higher than we originally thought.

  1. Fabulous they've started! Those extra expenses are downright scary huh. Woah, those foundations look really high!!!!!

  2. Hopefully no more surprises now the site works are completed.
Looks like will have plenty of room for underhouse storage at the front. Pity the door is so tiny. On the plan it looked huge.

  3. How much slope do you have left to right on your block????
Looks like you're going with more than 8 steps difference between entry level and back lower level?

  4. Right to left slope is a little over 1m. I guess it looks pretty high in the back left corner as it is sloping left to right and front to back too.
According to the plan the rear split is 1650mm with 9 steps. I think this is a little higher than normal as we upgraded the ceiling height on the lower floor.

  5. So you upgraded to 9 foot ceilings? So did we, but only to the back lower floor, not the front entry or the 2nd floor.
Yesterday I had a closer look at my foundation images too and figured yours and mine aren't that much different. Yours look extremely high because of that fence next to it! But are you going to have to do what we'll have to do, which is to backfill to bring the soil level up for the garage once everything's done?

  6. Yep. We have 9 foot ceiling just downstairs too.
We’ll also have to backfill around most of the house to bring the levels up. When speaking to the brickie on site over the weekend he said to make sure we use “AG pipe” and even waterproof up the bricks where we plan to fill to stop water getting under the house. Otherwise he said you’ll find your floors will turn green!!

  7. Mick, is there an ag pipe drawn on your plan? I remember that architect guy mentioning an ag pipe running across the front of my design to channel away the moisture/water.

  8. Can't see anything on the plan. I guess this is something we have to do ourselves after handover
