Tiling and landscaping

Tiling started on living room floor

Tiling started on alfresco floor

Start of retaining wall. Noticed a broken drainage pipe running down the side cut. The landscapers are waiting on the builder to fix before they can backfill.

Path levelled down the low side. Doesn't look like much now but compared to the drop that was there a few days ago it looks amazing.

  1. Wow that's some drop! Your retaining wall looks fantastic!

How did you start tiling a living room already? And did you tile up to the skirting board or remove it first then put it back after that section was done?

  2. Tiles are part of our tender so I guess they tile the living room the same time as bathrooms. Are you doing yours after handover? They tiled up to the skirting boards. I think that's pretty normal.

  3. They weren't part of ours, so we have to do them after handover. I'm glad though, because it gives us more time to pick, and I didn't really like that company we all had to go with.

Actually what should happen is that the skirting boards get put on after the floor coverings are done, and they sit on top of it. So my skirtings were all put in ahead of time and they'll have to get removed and put on again after carpeting. For tiling i'll just get it done up to the skirting without removal.

Watch for dents in the wall. I found the painters did a poor job, and there was lots of small damage that the site supervisor marked out with green tape to be fixed up.
