We managed to organise with the site supervisor to let us in Thursday so both the blind and carpet companies could come to do the check-measure. The carpet guy actually turned up late but said he we would throw in free carpet to the garage steps to make up for it.
We also have had a few quotes for the driveway now. The last guy said we really should replace the gutter crossing as it currently is only 3m. He said it would look nicer and would be much easier to access our garage if we got council to replace this with a 4.5m one. I can imagine it will take council months before they get this done but it should be worth it.
I totally agree with your driveway guy. 4.5m sounds really wide but it's perfect (my dad originally said 4.5 is too wide but it's not). 3m is waaaay too small. Perhaps if you don't have any neighbours then it doesn't matter, but I live near a train station with unlimited street parking. People park 24/7 right up to the edge and then some. 4.5m will let you swing comfortably.
